A Gas Safety Certificate is the common name for a Landlord Gas Safety Record. It is a document given after a Gas Safe-registered engineer has checked the gas appliances and flues in a rented property.

Who Needs a Gas Safety Certificate?

After the check, the landlord must give a copy of the Gas Safety Record to existing tenants within 28 days. New tenants should receive a copy before they move in.
Landlords should also keep copies of gas safety records. Gas Safe Register says landlords need to keep copies until a further two checks have been carried out.

If your local heating engineer finds a gas safety issue, they will explain what the problem is and what action is needed. In some cases, an appliance may need to be repaired, serviced or replaced before it can be used again.

Is a Boiler Service the Same as a Gas Safety Certificate?
